Home Sweet Home

Hydro ran the power to us attached to trees. “The inspector must have felt sorry for you.” said one of the installers.

This cabin was meant to be temporary until we built the ‘real’ house. It still stands today! Almost 40 years later.

  1. Wasn’t it always thus with Hornby home building in the 70′s? I chuckle to remember how many folks were still living in their workshop/boatshed/temporary cabin years later.

  2. What a great series of photos! I remember a dinner that we had in your cabin, sometime in the mid-70′s (when we were building our “temporary barn/house”). When we asked “Are you glad that you came here?”, your answer was “It was the best decision that I ever made”. Would you still agree – 40 years later?

  3. Oh yes, I still agree with that young guy. His house building skills were such that I haven’t had to worry about keeping busy. Endless renovation in Paradise. What could be finer!

  4. I remember sitting on your porch back then, and Fraser was just a wee ankle biter.
Those were the days! Thanks for sharing your illustrious past with us.
