The Denman ferry crew instructed me to drive fast onto the ferry, then jam on the brakes. This maneuver nudged the ferry off the ramp and allowed it to float free.

Richard Dunne-1972-…and yes, we are heading for Hornby. That’s my tailgate. Sometimes we would have to back off the ferry, sometimes we had to back on. Only one ramp worked.

Ferry Worker

1972-Leo Savoie. In those days the ferry guys would always examine the stuff in the back of your truck to see what you were bringing home from town. If it was covered by a tarp they would lift it for a peek.
