I do know that that is one unhappy horse. Everything about that horse says, “don’t make me do this!” The kid is bravely hanging on, bless her/his heart.

I’m guessing that there were quite a few ‘unhappy’ horses during the equine eightees.

Looks like the horse could be Pukey (Donna Sue’s sweet mare, an absolute cracker jack at barrels). She is actually happy, notice how one ear is back listening to her rider and her lead leg is inside – just like a pro – she is taking it wide though, probably because she has a little one on her back. She was a fabulous horse. Not sure who the kid is…not me – I would have been on Gun Smoke or Dukey in 84.
