Tom Campbell came in as mayor in 1966 or 67. Conservative, right wing, lawn order, didn’t like hippy protesters one bit; the feeling was mutual. That’s when it turned ugly. Gastown was declared a “police riot”.
1971, I guess a lot changed in those 4 years
What year did the Gastown riot take place? Plenty of animosity to around then
