We took these two up to recycling. I put this photo on Facebook saying that these would be handy on your mantelpiece or bedside cabinet. (great to wake up to!). Breagan Smith emailed me to say he’d got one. Congratulations! They originally came as toys from Christmas Crackers: proof that there is a use for Christmas cracker gifts.
I was part of the Ebb and Flow gang (1988). A lot of original islanders had sent photos to us. I copied them all. Quite a few ended up in the book. A lot did not. Recently a retiring Archivist gave the negs to me. I hadn’t any idea that she had them. There weren’t any of the notes the old timers had sent along with the photos so I’m relying on the negative sleeve markings. A shame, really, that we can’t identify most of the people but the photos are interesting in themselves. The negatives have ended up in the archives where they belong.
A semi-practical use for my 10,000 historical photos
