looks to me like a typical sad-sack tourist who’s worried about whether there’ll be hot water back at his accommodation .

That thought flashed through my head too, Gordy, but I kicked it out. I think Bob was just missing all his dear friends who weren’t there with him to share this lovely warm moment.
