  1. That’s not a real palm tree. It’s a result of limb pruning by the very tall deer that used to live on Hornby before the locals shot them all with flash lights. I’d shoot a deer that used a flash light myself. That’s creepy.

  2. Yes, I think of that often as I pass by I remember Mick Vet planting those, now gigantic, trees along the road. Seems like just a couple of years ago!

  3. I agree with John and miss that openness on Hornby. That is what I love about where I now live, an open view across a lake.

  4. I know its just nature reclaiming itself but I sure miss the open spaces of the island in the 60s and early 70s before the tree infestation began. The roads had such a nice feel about them. Though I love trees, I find the tree tunnels now so dark and dense.

    The view in your photo sure looks bucolic and wonderful.
