That’s David Taug on the left with Jerry Swatez. David was what I can only describe as a charismatic bully. He had lots of charm and a talent for getting folks to do things his way.

I love seeing these photos of this generous rebuilding of what eventually became my house. I purchased the house in the summer of 1974, probably not long after it was built. David, his partner, and baby wanted to move to South America,so when we arrived on the island to visit The Laskins, they took us to meet David and see the house. The next day we were on the ferry to go off to Nanaimo to complete the purchase. Such a sweet little home…and these photos help me appreciate it all the
more.
