well, i was born in ’56 and far as i know Nick’s fish boat was the only one made and launched from the island. i was about 5 at the time and have pictures of the launch. it was a really tight fit getting the boat and trailer down the narrow road to the beach.
I also remember them building the 6 car ferry on the beach about where the above picture was taken, i can still remember the smell of the wood chips.
Looking closer i think i,m wrong.Diferent name on that boat.Don,t recognize it.
I believe that,s the Shirlene built by Nick Bykoff and the Savoies.He and his wife Shirly lived in the first house toward the co-op from Leos.He fished out of Hornby for yrs. in the late 50s and 60s.
