1973-We loaded the gravel in the pit in Strachan Valley then drove all the way to past Pete’s corner to dump.

Pete was the guy that built the cardboard house(or at least finished it in cardboard). He was what we called then a “remittance man’ and got money from his parents and family in England to not go home.

You could spot him occasionally working on the cardboard covering of his house. The sharp uphill curve just past his place was called ‘Pete’s Corner’.
