So true! Didn’t know it at the time. One of the times I came back from France (much later than this) Jerry Pethick and I were sitting in a bar on the British side of the channel when the guys found out we were from Canada. Not a drink did we have to pay for after that.
You and that car would get similar reception today, Bob. We vacationed many times in western France and wearing a Can. flag pin often brought smiles, friendly conversations. Can. soldiers liberated much of western France, Normandy in particular.
This has not been forgotten.
