My first trip on the ferry was memorable because of being approached by Leo and told that I would like Hornby because there was a ladies sewing circle. The sewing circle turned out to be the weaving group that met at Betty Smith’s house and waa wonderful mixture of old and new.
Another memory was coming home from town. It was about 2 o’clock. The channel was really rough so Leo came up to the few cars that were there and said he was waiting until everyone who’d gone to town were back then they would go. We didn’t leave until the school kids and all were there at 6.
